Equine Endoscopy
We have both 1.5 meter and 3 meter video endoscopes that are used for a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures.
- Respiratory Endoscopy. We use the 1.5 meter scope to identify problems in the upper and lower respiratory track. The endoscope has become an important tool in horse for the diagnosis and treatment of Strangles. We can now better identify chronic carriers by finding infection and and sometimes abscesses in the gutteral pouch, and with the scope can flush harmful bacteria out of the pouch and treat within the pouch with appropriate antibiotics.
- Gastric Endoscopy. With our 3 meter scope we can look all the way down the esophagus and into the stomach of any size horse. This makes identification of gastric ulcers much more accurate. Problems with the esophagus of horses that choke frequently can also be identified as well as removal of foreign bodies from the stomach or esophagus.
- Miscellaneous. Endoscopy can be used in a variety of other applications such as bladder and uterine endoscopy as well as ear and dental exams.
