Health Certificates

Our lab prepares health certificates for Interstate (within the U.S.) travel and International travel to Canada. For any questions, the lab can be contacted at (360) 354-5095, Option 3, Option 1.

A negative Coggins (Equine Infectious Anemia) test is needed for travel; the test is good for 6 months for international travel and 12 months for travel to most states within the U.S. Please expect a turnaround time of 24-72 hours for a Coggins test.

Interstate Health Certificates

We will need the following information for all interstate health certificates:

Name, address, and phone numbers for the following:
- Owner of the horse
- The local stable where the horse resides (if different from owner)
- Horse’s destination (private party, or an event/show)
- Transporter (if different from owner)
Reason for Travel

Turnaround Time: Typically within 24 hours.

International Health Certificates

We will need the following information for all international health certificates:

Name, address & phone number of the horse’s owner, and the transporter if owner is not transporting
Name and address of:
- The local stable where the horse resides (if different from owner)
- The destination, and name of the responsible party if going to a show or stable
Has the horse traveled out of the state of WA in the last 21 days? If so, where?
Reason for Travel:
- Competition or racing
- Breeding/rearing/other
What border crossing are you likely to use?
Approximate date of travel

These certificates must be submitted to the USDA office in Tumwater, WA for their endorsement.

Turnaround Time: Typically 24-48 hours.

Note: All health certificates must be paid for before receipt. You may pick up a hard copy at the lab, or we can e-mail it to you for you to print at your convenience.
